SUMMARY
In the immediate aftermath of the Human-Covenant War, a UNSC battalion was sent to the outer colony of Gao to investigate a strange signal thought to be from a Forerunner ancilla. During the investigation, the battalion became involved in a local coup, involving both a power-hungry politician and a group of Jiralhanae trying to take the ancilla for themselves. The UNSC forces eventually managed to extract the ancilla, though only after taking significant casualties on the ground.
